Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart
Tokayev issued a call to action to world leaders in his article published in the
US political publication, The Hill. The Head of State emphasized the importance
of taking responsibility for the future and swiftly addressing emerging crises
and problems, including the pandemic and climate change, as well as nuclear annihilation,
which is the biggest threat to humanity. “As a country deeply affected by
nuclear proliferation during those years, Kazakhstan has been at the forefront
of global denuclearization efforts,” Tokayev wrote. Additionally, the Head of
State proposed to establish a UN Biosecurity Agency, which could help prepare
for future pandemics. He also called for addressing global water and food
security issues. President Tokayev emphasized that these efforts will define
the future of humanity and can bring results “only if they are truly
internationalized.”
