Kazakhstan, Netherlands to boost cooperation in agriculture

Kazakhstan and the Netherlands are set to intensify cooperation in agriculture. The countries plan to increase the number of joint projects in the agro-industrial complex. Also, the priority areas for interaction include the exchange of experience in the field of veterinary medicine and seed production. The partnership will help to enhance trade turnover, especially considering the great potential of Kazakh agrarians in the production and export of environmentally friendly agricultural products. At the same time, the parties aim at constant monitoring and addressing issues of agricultural business development. To this end, a joint agricultural committee has been set up. Representatives of the business and sector specialists will be invited to annual meetings. The relevant memorandum was signed during the Agroworld Qazaqstan exhibition in the city of Almaty.

“The Netherlands is a partner country at this exhibition this year, and more than 25 Dutch companies are present here. This mostly is the reflection of our commitment to international cooperation, knowledge exchange and sustainable agricultural practices. The Netherlands and Dutch companies have a lot of expertise and knowledge to offer. Thus, we’re looking forward to being a partner in different events of sustainable agriculture here in Kazakhstan,” said Jan-Kees Goet, the Secretary General for the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality.

It is worth noting that the trade turnover of agricultural products between Kazakhstan and the Netherlands has grown. The figure reached nearly $62 million in the first nine months of the year, which is a third more than for the same period in 2022. According to the Global Food Security Index, Kazakhstan ranks 32nd out of 113 countries.
