Kazakhstan launches domestic animation week

A week dedicated to domestic animation has begun in Kazakhstan. Free screenings of animated films are being organized in cinemas in Astana and Karagandy, as well as at the National Military-Patriotic Center in the capital and at remote military garrisons in Semei, Otar, Saryozek, and Almaty. Audiences of all ages will have the opportunity to see feature-length and short films, series, and exclusive premieres. The program features cartoons from the golden fund of Kazakhfilm and the Cinema Support Center, including Altyn Adam, Koshkar men Tekе, and Kenzhe Kyz. According to the organizers, the main goal of the screenings is to promote high-quality content in the state language and to expand the audience. In addition, such initiatives play an important role in the development of the entire cultural industry - they help support domestic creators and foster a lasting interest in Kazakh animation among children and teenagers.

«I can confidently say that Kazakh animation is advancing at a remarkable pace, showing substantial progress, as demonstrated by last year’s projects. At that time, very young animators had the opportunity to present their works, allowing them to reveal their talent and creative vision. Every year, around 10 young directors and animators have the chance to receive funding for their projects,» noted Ainur Issayeva, producer of the Kazakh Animation Creative Association at the Kazakhfilm Studio.
