Kazakhstan has
ratified a treaty on deepening and expanding allied relations with the Kyrgyz
Republic. The Senate, an upper house of the Kazakh Parliament, approved the
corresponding law. The agreement covers a wide range of cooperation - from
trade and economic ties to transport, transit, and water-energy sectors.
Kazakhstan is currently among top three trading partners of the Kyrgyz Republic.
In recent years, bilateral trade has consistently exceeded $1.5 billion, with a
goal to raise this figure to $3 billion under high-level agreements. Kazakh
businesses have invested over $1.3 billion in the Kyrgyz economy. Both
countries generally support further development and strengthening of
interparliamentary ties, including within the Interparliamentary Cooperation
Council. Attention has also been given to cultural relations - Kazakh-Kyrgyz
film days and a youth forum are planned for this year.
«The agreement,
consisting of 22 articles, provides for the development of allied relations
based on comprehensive cooperation between the two countries in political,
economic, social, and cultural-humanitarian spheres, as well as bilateral cooperation
in regional security,» said Senate Member Darkhan Kydyrali.
