Kazakhstan makes a significant contribution to the
development of the Paralympic movement. President of the Asian Paralympic
Committee Majid Rashed made the statement in Astana at the Asian Paralympic
Committee’s Conference. The country is developing modern sports infrastructure
and operates a national Paralympic training center. It also has a strong track
record in organizing major international competitions. Hosting the Asian
Paralympic Committee’s Conference and General Assembly in Astana will be another
step in further strengthening its international standing. Events of this scale
are being held in Central Asia for the first time. Over several days,
participants from 45 countries plan to approve new Paralympic sport
disciplines, share experiences, and set standards for athlete training.
«Kazakhstan is one of the strong partners for the movement, and
one of the most developing countries and NPCs in parasport. Of course, it has a
long history of supporting the movement not just in Asia. So, being here in
Kazakhstan, I think it is the right choice and the right decision to do. Now,
it is the first day of the conference here, and I’m sure that the outcome of
this conference - with all the exchanging experiences and subjects - will give
us more decision for the future of our movement,» said Rashed.
