Kazakhstan and the European Union have signed two
agreements. The first is a €3 million contract in the field of critical raw
materials, aimed at advancing joint projects in natural resources that are of
strategic importance to the economy and industry. They are essential for the
production of new technologies, energy, and other industries. The second is a
€200 million framework loan agreement between the European Investment Bank and
the Development Bank of Kazakhstan. The funds are expected to support the
development of the transport sector and renewable energy sources.
«The Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor is one of the
flagships of our Global Gateway strategy because if we succeed, if we really
create a corridor which will connect Asia with Europe within 15 days or less,
it will be a real game changer for the trade and for the economic activities
within the region. Loan frame in the amount of 200 million euro—this one is
mainly focused on transport connectivity,» said European Commissioner for
International Partnerships Jozef Síkela.
