Kazakh Prime Minister inspects water facilities in Turkistan region

Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov called for tighter control over water distribution and faster reconstruction of hydraulic structures during a working visit to the Turkistan region. He inspected strategically important facilities, including the Shardara and Koksarai reservoirs. Bektenov stressed the importance of ensuring a stable water supply for southern farmers and increasing systemic modernization of the water sector. In particular, he instructed to restore the Koksarai counter-regulator and ensure timely financing of all projects under presidential directives. Additionally, the Kazakh government is currently engaged in negotiations with neighboring countries on watershed issues. More than 113 million cubic meters of water will be delivered via the Baidibek Ata and Boraldai reservoirs to ensure a stable water supply to the city of Turkistan.
