An extended meeting of the Council of the
Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan (APK) took place in Astana. The discussion
focused on the Assembly’s contribution to strengthening interethnic unity and
the key tasks for the upcoming years. Participants noted that over the past 30
years, the Assembly has evolved from a consultative and advisory body into a
constitutional institution with parliamentary representation rights. Attendees also
emphasized the importance of further promoting the Assembly’s principles in
society. Priorities include the development of ethnocultural associations, the
Mothers’ Council, the Council of Aksakals (Elders), the scientific and expert
activities of the APK, the Institute of Ethnomediation, and the youth movement.
«The country effectively operates laws that
exclude and suppress any discrimination on ethnic, religious, or linguistic
grounds. The Assembly has been and remains one of the key principles of
promoting a Just Kazakhstan, law and order, the Adal Azamat concept, and an
active participant in the nationwide Taza Kazakhstan campaign,» noted Arman
Kyrykbayev, Assistant to Kazakh President for Domestic Policy and
Communications.
«The Assembly has evolved from a consultative
and advisory body to a constitutional institution that truly has a voice in
Parliament. Today, it supports the reforms of the Head of State,» said Evgeny
Bolgert, member of the Senate, the Upper House of the Kazakh Parliament.
