Kazakhstan, South Korea aim to expand cooperation

The Republic of Korea is one of Kazakhstan’s key strategic partners, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said during a meeting with Kang Hoon-sik, South Korea’s Presidential Chief of Staff. Tokayev praised the strong momentum in bilateral cooperation and highlighted the significance of Kang’s visit to Kazakhstan. He also reaffirmed Astana’s commitment to further expanding the strategic partnership between the two countries. The sides discussed prospects for strengthening cooperation, particularly in the energy and transport and logistics sectors.

«Your visit is of great significance in further strengthening Kazakh-Korean cooperation. I am confident that, through our joint efforts, the partnership between our countries will continue to grow steadily,» Tokayev said.

Kang Hoon-sik expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and conveyed the congratulations of the President of South Korea on the successful referendum approving Kazakhstan’s new Constitution. He also extended an invitation to President Tokayev to visit Seoul, including attending the first Republic of Korea – Central Asia Summit in September. Tokayev accepted the invitation and expressed confidence that the upcoming high-level talks will further strengthen cooperation between Astana and Seoul, as well as with the broader Central Asian region.
