Kazakhstan will strengthen measures to combat
money laundering and terrorist financing. The Senate, the upper house of
Parliament, ratified a protocol amending the Agreement on the Eurasian Group,
enhancing control over financial flows, increasing the effectiveness of
international cooperation, and aligning national legislation with Financial
Action Task Force (FATF) standards. The protocol also regulates the
organization’s operations. Notably, Kazakhstan is one of the member states of
the Eurasian Group, which unites nine countries.
«These standards aim to enhance joint efforts
to protect the financial systems and economies of the organization’s member
states. In general, we expect the law to improve cooperation with our partners
in this area,» said Senate Chairman Maulen Ashimbayev.
