Kazakhstan develops full-cycle cotton-textile cluster

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Xinjiang Lihua, Zhang Qihai. The parties discussed the implementation of a project to establish a cotton-textile cluster in the country with a full production cycle. Initial investments are expected to amount to around $360 million. It was noted that several facilities have already been commissioned, including two cotton processing plants. In the coming years, the launch of production of nonwoven materials and home textiles is planned. The implementation of the project will make it possible to expand cotton cultivation areas to 52,000 hectares. The Head of State awarded Zhang Qihai the Order of Dostyk, II degree, for his contribution to the development of Kazakhstan’s agro-industrial complex.

«We conducted a comprehensive study of markets across various countries, but we see that it is Kazakhstan that offers all the necessary conditions, including a rich natural potential and suitable climatic conditions for implementing this initiative. Currently, we are also planning to implement a similar full industrial chain project in the Turkistan region, just as we are doing in Xinjiang,» noted Xu Jie, Chief Project Manager, Chinese Company Xinjiang Lihua.
