President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the Secretary-General of
the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Nurlan Yermekbayev, discussed the
implementation of Kazakhstan’s key priorities within the SCO during a meeting
at the Akorda presidential palace. They also reviewed prospects for further developing
cooperation within the SCO. The President emphasized that Kazakhstan attaches
particular importance to strengthening the role of the Organization, which is capable
of responding promptly to today’s global political challenges. He also commended
China’s current chairmanship of the SCO and expressed support for further
enhancement of its mechanisms.
