Kazakhstan Cultural Center opens in China

As part of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s visit to China, the opening ceremony of the Cultural Center of Kazakhstan was held in Beijing. In his speech, the Head of State emphasized that this event is historic and significant for the spiritual life of the two nations, noting that art and culture are a golden bridge that unites different peoples. He stressed that the stronger the cultural and humanitarian ties, the stronger the friendship between the two countries will be. Notably, a branch of Beijing Language and Culture University was opened in Astana last year, and Lu Ban workshops have recently been launched.

«Spiritual and cultural ties between the Great Steppe and Great China have never been interrupted. A very important task is to preserve and enhance them. I am convinced that the Cultural Center will play a special role in this endeavor, as it is designed to promote the rich heritage and unique traditions of the Kazakh people. The Center will also serve as a platform for the youth of both countries to gain advanced knowledge and exchange creative ideas,» Tokayev noted.

President Tokayev, accompanied by China’s Minister of Culture and Tourism Sun Yeli, toured the Cultural Center. It houses a library, classrooms for the Kazakh language, music, and creative arts, as well as an exhibition hall displaying historical artifacts from the ancient Saka period to the early 20th century. The distinguished guests were also welcomed by Chinese schoolchildren, who impressed them with their knowledge of the Kazakh language. The students then performed a dombyra medley of well-known Kazakh and Chinese musical pieces.
