Kazakhstan creates unified information system for migrant movement recording

In Kazakhstan, migrant movement will be recorded through a special information system migration.enbek.kz, which is currently under development. The portal will enable to monitor foreigners entering the country, regardless of their purpose of stay. Data integration into the system will be implemented in phases. 15 services were added last year, and an additional three are planned to be launched this year. Overall, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, document management in the field of migration has now been transitioned to an electronic format. Passport issuance times have also been reduced from six months to 30 days. Regarding migration balance, more than 40,000 people moved to Kazakhstan last year, while just over 11,000 left the country.

«Significant measures have been implemented to enhance the country’s investment and tourism attractiveness for foreign visitors. Currently, citizens of 87 countries can enter Kazakhstan without a visa, while citizens of 109 countries are eligible for electronic visas. In recent years, the number of foreign visitors has been increasing. Last year, over 15 million foreign visitors arrived in Kazakhstan, which is one million more than the previous year. This year, 2.8 million foreigners have already entered the country,» said Aslan Atalykov, Chairman of the Migration Service Committee at the Kazakh Ministry of Internal Affairs.
