Kazakhstan continues development of domestic tourism

Growing preference for domestic tourism can be observed among Kazakh people. Our country, which is located in the heart of Eurasia, has unique natural monuments that are in harmony with historical buildings and modern architecture. There are amazing breathtaking places among the Kazakh mountains and steppes.

Thus, the number of people wishing to visit the thermal springs in Zhangeldy district is growing every year. It is widely believed that the water here has unique therapeutic properties.

“There are a lot of tourists from Kostanai, from the capital and some neighboring areas. Tourists from Russia also visit this place. On average, approximately 5,000 people visit our district annually,” noted resident of Zhangeldy district Almurat Kabyluly.

Lake Karatuz is also a tourist destination. People come here during swimming seasons from across the country. In addition, there are a number of significant historical places, including the native village of Akhmet Baitursynov. Thousands of visitors, including foreigners, are interested in these places, so a tourist hub is being constructed in Amangeldy district along the route that connects the center and the western Kazakhstan.

“12 tourism facilities will be located here, including a summer swimming pool, the Saka bath, a cafe and a hotel. The total cost of the project is 2.5 billion tenge of private investments. The construction of access roads, parking and transformer substations will be funded from the budget,” said Nurlan Koishigulov, Head of the Construction Department of Amangeldy district.

“1,200 tourists visited our region last year, 300 tourists have come here since the start of the current year, and the numbers are increasing respectively. People want to see sand dunes and Torgai geoglyphs, which, according to researchers, appeared more than 8,000 years ago,” added Sundet Ganiyev, Deputy Governor of Amangeldy district.

The recreation areas on Lake Kambash in Kyzylorda region receive from 500 to 2,000 tourists in a day. The tourists enjoy the golden sand and clear water.

“We came from Kazaly. This year the lake is filled with water, and there are a lot of tourists, both adults and children,” said one of the visitors.

“There was almost no water in Kambash for the last two or three years. The beaches were empty. The recreation area is now open again. And this makes us happy,” noted another visitor.

It is planned to develop winter recreation area, as well as agro, ethno and historical tourism on Lake Kambash.
