Kazakhstan, China sign agreements totaling $15 billion

Transport, energy, mining and metallurgical complex, agriculture, and artificial intelligence - these are the priority areas for further cooperation between Kazakhstan and China, as outlined by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the eighth meeting of the Kazakhstan-China Business Council in Beijing. The event brought together more than 500 representatives of government agencies and businesses from both countries, along with executives from over 70 major Chinese corporations. In his speech, the Head of State emphasized that China is Kazakhstan’s eternal strategic partner. Last year, trade turnover between the two countries reached $44 billion, and over the next five years, both sides intend to significantly increase this figure. President Tokayev also noted that Kazakhstan’s economy is the largest in Central Asia and that its GDP is expected to exceed $300 billion by year-end.

«China has already invested $27 billion in our economy, which is a very strong indicator. I am confident this figure will continue to grow. More than 6,000 enterprises with Chinese capital are successfully operating in Kazakhstan, including major global corporations such as CNPC, CITIC, SINOPEC, and HUAWEI,» Tokayev noted.

Doing business with Kazakhstan is profitable. The country not only attracts investors but also provides them with support by ensuring reliable protection of their rights and interests. This work is carried out at all levels, including the governmental level. Moreover, Kazakhstan and China have signed an Agreement on the promotion and mutual protection of investments. The business community can choose promising and profitable areas of cooperation, one of which is transport and logistics. Notably, Kazakhstan accounts for 85% of all overland freight between China and Europe. Cooperation in the energy sector, particularly in renewable energy and nuclear power, also appears attractive for businesses.
