Kazakhstan’s government and business community have established a dialogue, evidenced by entrepreneurs’ involvement in specialized councils’ creation, as well as forums and meetings organization. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also meets with business leaders to foster collaborative decision-making and develop concrete strategies to unlock economic potential. During a meeting with the Head of State, entrepreneur Zhumabek Zhanykulov presented his proposals, which he shared in an interview with Silk Way TV Channel. He highlighted that he sees growth in leveraging practical business knowledge. His suggestions included supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and creating a strategy for localizing goods. Zhanykulov stressed that import substitution should be effective and justified, as high logistics costs may prompt businesses to establish local production of similar products.

«Individuals or companies that import certain goods know where to send them, in what form and quality, and how much they can sell. And my idea, I repeat once again, is very simple: any entrepreneur importing over one billion tenge worth of goods annually should have the opportunity to produce them locally with state support. The state should patronize this project as well. Without government backing, it cannot succeed,» he said.

As the speaker noted, attracting foreign investments is crucial for project implementation and plays a key role in the development of the country’s economy.

«Businesspeople, especially in the middle and senior segment, frequently travel, engaging with people at conferences, exhibitions, and meetings worldwide. They share what is happening in Kazakhstan, which is important as they need real cases and business stories to show how to develop businesses in our country. Therefore, business diplomacy should continuously evolve, promoting Kazakhstan more and more,» Zhanykulov remarked.
