Kazakh President briefed on completion of major projects in gas sector

Kazakhstan is preparing to upgrade the Central Asia - Centre system to increase gas transit to Uzbekistan. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received QazaqGaz Chairman Sanzhar Zharkeshov who presented a report on the outcomes of the national company’s activities over the past nine months.  The Head of State was briefed on the completion of construction of the second string of the Almaty - Baiserke - Talgar gas pipeline and gas infrastructure for TPP-2 and TPP-3 in Almaty, as well as on the start of construction of the new Taldykorgan - Usharal main gas pipeline. President Tokayev gave a number of instructions.

«Given the rapid growth in the consumption of commercial gas in the country and the need for rational resource management, I informed about the efforts to expand the resource base. In this regard, the National Company has made significant progress. Firstly, an agreement was signed with Chevron for geological exploration in the Aktobe region. Under the carry financing model, the investor assumes all geological and financial risks. In addition, three more agreements were signed with other investors,» said QazaqGaz Chairman Sanzhar Zharkeshov.
