Kazakhstan and Belarus recorded a trade turnover of more than $1 billion last year. At the same time, bilateral trade increased by one third. Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highlighted the strong dynamics of the strategic partnership during a meeting with Belarusian Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov. Tokayev stressed the importance of maintaining an active, trust-based dialogue, as well as coordinating the practical implementation of agreements reached at the highest level.
«There is every reason to express satisfaction today with the steady progress of our cooperation, primarily in the economic sphere. In 2025, trade turnover exceeded $1 billion. Taking this opportunity, I would like to convey greetings and best wishes to President Aleksandr Lukashenko of Belarus. In May, we will hold a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council. I believe that, in addition to the multilateral agenda, we will also discuss other issues related to the development of relations between our states,» Tokayev said.
The sides also emphasized the importance of further deepening cooperation in the areas of industrial collaboration, transport, agriculture, tourism, and other sectors. Special attention was given to increasing exports of Kazakh products. Tokayev welcomed the upcoming opening of the Consulate General of Belarus in Almaty. The diplomatic mission is intended to strengthen ties between the regions of the two countries.
