Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan strengthen judicial cooperation

Judicial reforms in Kazakhstan have been highly commended in Azerbaijan. A delegation from Azerbaijan recently visited Astana, where judges expressed interest in the changes aimed at ensuring judicial independence and fostering the role of the Kazakh Supreme Judicial Council. During the meeting, they discussed reforms in judge selection, appointment processes, and professional assessment. The parties also explored cooperation between their Supreme Judicial Councils, emphasizing the digitalization of legal proceedings and mutual knowledge exchange. Both parties noted that such efforts help strengthen ties between Kazakh and Azerbaijani government agencies.

«Mutual interest and openness to dialogue confirm that judicial reforms attract attention not only in Central Asia but also beyond its borders. The Supreme Judicial Council is always ready and open to cooperation and sharing its experience, taking the most effective measures to improve judicial institutions further,» said Dmitry Malakhov, chairman of the Kazakh Supreme Judicial Council.

«Kazakhstan’s legal practice is very interesting. I appreciate seeing new reforms in the judicial system with each visit. The latest reform we discussed during our meeting is particularly exciting. We hope these reforms will successfully achieve their intended goals,» noted Sanan Gadzhiev, chairman of the Civil Chamber of Azerbaijan’s Supreme Court.
