Trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Georgia has exceeded
$75 million since the beginning of 2025, marking an increase of more than
one-third compared to the same period last year. The strengthening of bilateral
cooperation was the focus of discussions between Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas
Bektenov and Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam
Kvrivishvili. Particular emphasis was placed on enhancing trade and investment,
implementing joint infrastructure projects, and expanding transport and
logistics links - especially through the opportunities presented by the
Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. A key milestone in boosting
transit capacity was the launch of a new Kazakh container terminal at the Port
of Poti. This is Kazakhstan's first domestic infrastructure project located
within one of Georgia’s major maritime hubs. As Bektenov noted, the terminal is
expected to play a vital role in increasing cargo volumes along the
Trans-Caspian corridor. The two sides also discussed expanding exports of
Kazakh agricultural products to the Georgian market, including grain, flour,
meat and dairy products, and confectionery. Kvrivishvili emphasized the
importance of deepening partnerships with Kazakhstan in the areas of trade,
tourism, and logistics infrastructure.
