Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan plan to introduce Silk Road Tourist Visa in 2022

Already next year, the first tourists will be traveling along the ‘Central Asian Schengen’. Kazakh Minister of Culture and Sports Aktoty Raimkulova announced this at a meeting of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States. Speaking at the event in Uzbekistan, Raimkulova noted that the tourism program that Kazakhstan is working on together with its neighboring countries will be launched in the near future. The ‘Great Silk Road’ route from Almaty to Khiva will also include other member countries of the Council. The meeting participants also discussed the creation of a common calendar of tourist events. Following the meeting, the city of Kokand was declared the first tourist capital of the Turkic-speaking states.

“The Silk Road Visa project is very important for the Turkic-speaking states and for the countries along the Great Silk Road. In addition, since there are visas covering different states, it is necessary to obtain recommendations and support from each state. To date, a lot of work has been done in this regard. We have made proposals to each country, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan. Discussions between our countries  are currently underway,” Raimkulova said.
