Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia forge energy collaboration

Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia have signed an agreement on the joint construction of a one-gigawatt wind power station. The renewable energy facility is expected to be built in the Zhetysu region. Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev hosted Saudi Arabia’s Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman at the Akorda presidential palace to discuss cooperation in the energy and investment sectors. The Head of State noted that Kazakh-Saudi relations have reached an unprecedented level, and his agreements with Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman have given a powerful impetus to bilateral cooperation in all spheres. The Saudi Energy Minister thanked President Tokayev for the warm welcome, emphasizing that the relations between the two countries have deep historical roots.

“We regard your visit as a symbol of friendship, close ties between both states, and I am still under a very positive impression with regard to my visit to your great country. It was a real success. We have agreed on so many issues, and first of all, on our cooperation in the energy area, which is a key area, which is a strategic one. So, we are very much hopeful to a follow-up of so many agreements and I believe that the relationship between both Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia will be successfully developing. Taking this opportunity, I would like to send my best regards and words of respect to his Royal Highness, His Excellency Mr. Mohammed bin Salman,” the President said.
