Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia have
signed an agreement on the joint construction of a one-gigawatt wind power
station. The renewable energy facility is expected to be built in the Zhetysu
region. Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev hosted Saudi Arabia’s Energy
Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman at the Akorda presidential palace to
discuss cooperation in the energy and investment sectors. The Head of State
noted that Kazakh-Saudi relations have reached an unprecedented level, and his
agreements with Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin
Salman have given a powerful impetus to bilateral cooperation in all spheres.
The Saudi Energy Minister thanked President Tokayev for the warm welcome,
emphasizing that the relations between the two countries have deep historical
roots.
“We regard your visit as a symbol of
friendship, close ties between both states, and I am still under a very
positive impression with regard to my visit to your great country. It
was a real success. We have agreed on so many issues, and first of all, on our
cooperation in the energy area, which is a key area, which is a strategic one.
So, we are very much hopeful to a follow-up of so many agreements and I believe
that the relationship between both Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia will be
successfully developing. Taking this opportunity, I would like to send my best
regards and words of respect to his Royal Highness, His Excellency Mr. Mohammed
bin Salman,” the President said.
