Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia archives agree to cooperate

Kazakhstan will cooperate with Saudi Arabia in the field of archiving. The National Archive of Kazakhstan has signed a memorandum with the King Abdulaziz Foundation aimed at developing a partnership through joint projects, exchange of expertise, and scientific research. Both sides anticipate fruitful cooperation. The partners have extensive archival collections that are actively being digitized. The King Abdulaziz Foundation is also regarded as one of the most reputable archival institutions in the Middle East.

«In the future, a bilateral work plan will be developed under the memorandum. We are considering many joint projects to establish close ties and strengthen cooperation. For example, our National Archive holds a map created by the Arab cartographer Al-Idrisi in 1154. This map still requires further study. Therefore, I believe that scholars from Saudi Arabia and Kazakhstan will carry out many more joint research projects,» said Sagila Nurlanova, Director of the National Archive of Kazakhstan.
