«A journey of taste from Anatolia to the Great Steppe
country.» Astana hosted Turkish Cuisine Week, an event aimed at strengthening
cultural ties between Kazakhstan and Türkiye. Guests were introduced to
traditional Ottoman and Anatolian dishes, with nine exquisite delicacies
presented by a three-time Michelin-starred Turkish chef. One of the standout
signature desserts was Kazakh-style baklava, uniquely crafted with the addition
of tary (millet, a traditional grain). Such events are held annually in
countries around the world and, as diplomats noted, help foster deeper cultural
understanding. Several new joint projects are already in the works.
«We plan to start filming a program in the near future,
where, together with entrepreneurs, we will discuss the gastronomy of our
countries — exploring both the similarities and unique features of our dishes.
The filming will take place at the Burabai resort. This project will allow us
to showcase the beauty of Kazakhstan's nature, connect the fields of tourism
and gastronomy, and celebrate our shared cultural traditions,» said Mustafa
Kapucu, Ambassador of Türkiye to Kazakhstan.
«The atmosphere is very family-oriented. We really like
everything. We’ve already tried Turkish sherbet — a favorite drink of the
Ottoman Empire. Thanks to the organizers — everything was delicious,» said Zhanar
Nugumanova, a resident of Astana.
