The national team of Kazakhstan has entered the final stage of preparation for the fifth World Nomad Games. Over 200 athletes will represent the country at the large-scale event in Astana in September. They are currently honing their skills and practicing tactical techniques. Thus, the national teams in assyk atu are training in the vicinity of Kokshetau, intellectual game teams are practicing in Astana, and athletes in equestrian sport are training in the Almaty region. Competitions in kokpar promise to be spectacular, including between Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyz Republic.
«Now we are focused on preparing our horses. The team is in good athletic shape. So far, we do not see any shortcomings,» said Akylbay Mankeyev, head coach of Kazakhstan’s national kokpar team.
«We have been preparing for the World Nomad Games for two months. The preparation is being conducted at a high level. We hope to meet the expectations of Kazakhstan, since this large-scale international event will be held in our country,» noted Adlet Mamyt, member of Kazakhstan’s national kokpar team.
Domestic athletes are set to showcase all their accumulated experience. The competition promises to be very high, with numerous delegations from the Kyrgyz Republic, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, China, and Hungary expected to arrive in the country this year. Notably, for the first time, representatives from South America, including athletes from Venezuela and Australia, have applied for participation in the fifth World Nomad Games. This will give the ethno-competitions a bigger scale, which means that spectators will be able to enjoy spectacular performances.
«The World Nomad Games were held the first three times in the Kyrgyz Republic, and the fourth one took place in Türkiye. The previous games were organized in the format of a festival of national sports. Our current goal is to elevate the World Nomad Games to the level of official multi-sport events. We aim to step up to the next level so that the next host country can further develop the games,» said Aibek Saparkul, head of the Directorate for the Preparation and Holding of the fifth World Nomad Games.
The World Nomad Games encompass three areas: national sports, science, and culture. Together, they provide a comprehensive view of the nomadic civilization’s peculiarities. Unique programs featuring concerts, a festival of national dishes, and demonstrations of the country’s tourist potential were developed for the spectators.
