Kazakh researchers are working on a major scholarly collection dedicated to the spiritual and philosophical legacy of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, as well as his influence on the traditions and development of spiritual culture among Turkic peoples. More than 30 specialists—religious studies scholars and historians—are involved in the research. In addition to collecting archival materials and manuscripts on the works, life, mentors, and students of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, the experts are engaged in their translation and scholarly analysis. An active search for previously unstudied works and the deciphering of writings by this outstanding thinker is being carried out by Nurlan Kairbekov, an associate professor at the Department of Religious Studies of the Eurasian National University, together with his colleagues. According to him, the publication of a major scholarly volume based on the research findings will help showcase Yasawi’s multifaceted legacy to the international community.
«In studying this heritage, we carried out several
research activities outside Kazakhstan. We were in Uzbekistan — in cities such
as Tashkent, Bukhara, and Samarkand. We also traveled to Türkiye, where we
worked in libraries in Ankara and Istanbul to locate relevant materials. The
geographical reach of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi’s teachings is very broad and extends
across all Turkic peoples,» Kairbekov said.
