Kazakh scientists set to uncover mystery of Torgai geoglyphs

Kazakh scientists may soon uncover the mystery of the Torgai geoglyphs. To this end, Kazakh archaeology enthusiast Dmitry Dey, who discovered the unusual geometric patterns on Google Maps in 2007, plans to conduct an OSL dating analysis. This method will help determine the age of the earthen and clay formations. According to the researcher, the ancient structures may have served as solar observatories during the Neolithic era, helping hunters track natural cycles and the migration of saiga antelopes.

«We need to obtain the OSL dating results - that is, precise age measurements. Once we have them, and if the analysis shows that the structures date back roughly 8,000 years, give or take a thousand, we will be able to present this as scientific evidence that the geoglyphs began to be constructed 8-9 thousand years ago. We have already identified laboratories that can carry out this analysis, and next year we expect to receive the exact dating of these ancient sites,» Dey said.

To present a complete picture, he is currently working on a documentary. In it, he will explore who built these mysterious figures in northern Kazakhstan, when they were created, and for what purpose. The film, titled Puzzle of Time, is scheduled to premiere in two years.
