Kazakh school students develop in-demand AI projects

Students of the National School of Physics and Math are developing unique projects using AI technologies. Their proposals received high recognition in Beijing at the International Olympiad on Artificial Intelligence. In August, Kazakh school students won seven medals in China, most of them being students of the National School of Physics and Math in Almaty. For this prestigious educational competition, Timur Shakurov developed an AI-based startup in the field of medicine, while Abu Kanatbek presented a new initiative aimed at improving the field of sports orienteering.

«This project not only helps to reduce routine workload, but also assists doctors in taking into account all possible factors. A human being cannot physically remember thousands of diseases, but AI can. It can calculate and display the probable diseases in percentage termssaid Timur Shakurov, student of the National School of Physics and Math in Almaty.

«Such Olympiads are very important as they offer an opportunity to demonstrate one’s talents. We will develop our startups and step onto the global stage,» shared Abu Kanatbek, student of the National School of Physics and Math in Almaty.

Earlier, students of the National School of Physics and Math presented their projects at a conference on artificial intelligence at the University of Cambridge. Next year, they will have the opportunity to showcase them at the International Olympiad in Abu Dhabi. The students also have a chance to test their developments in Kazakhstan, particularly at the National Olympiad on Artificial Intelligence.
