The iconic ballet «Swan Lake» by Pyotr
Tchaikovsky is to be performed on the stage of the Astana Opera on January 18
and 19. Residents and guests of the Kazakh capital will have the opportunity to
enjoy this classic masterpiece, which explores eternal values such as love,
loyalty, and devotion. The ballet will be showcased in a new interpretation by
Altynai Asylmuratova, the ballet company’s artistic director. The ballet troupe
is undergoing intensive preparation, as performing such a renowned piece
presents a significant challenge. «Swan Lake», one of the world’s most famous
and popular ballet productions, requires exceptional skill, as well as a deep
understanding of its plot and characters. Audiences can anticipate splendid
costumes, stunning scenery, and unforgettable music that will transport them
into the magical world of a fairy tale. On the first day of the premiere,
leading soloist Aigerim Beketayeva will perform the roles of Odette and Odile,
with soloist Dias Kurmangazy dancing the role of Prince Siegfried. On the
second day, they will be succeeded by talented debutants Sofiya Adilkhanova and
Erkin Bazarbaev.
«She changes from year to year, just as I
do. I want to say that I had a special attitude toward Odile. But now, with my
experiences and insights, I find it easier to manage this role. I feel more
confident in portraying her. I also hope Sofiya treats this character with the
same care, as it reflects a ballet dancer’s skill and what she can bring to it,»
shared Aigerim Beketayeva, leading soloist of the Astana Opera Theatre.
