Ga Ga Goi, an exhibition with a distinctive title is currently taking place in Uzbekistan. Hosted at the legendary Ilkhom Theatre in Tashkent, it features works by Kazakh artist Aisha Baktygul. Her abstract paintings are meant to be experienced through intuition, rhythm, and color. According to the organizers, rather than inviting rational analysis, the exhibition immerses visitors in a sensory, emotionally rich encounter with the artworks. This exhibition marks Baktygul’s international debut and represents the third major milestone in the career of the artist, a student of the renowned visual arts master Arystanbek Shalbayev. Her works have previously been exhibited in Kazakhstan. The Tashkent exhibition runs until April 26.
«This anniversary year, we were invited to showcase contemporary Kazakh art. We chose the works of Aisha Baktygul, an abstract painter. The theatre creates a space where, instead of constantly analyzing, you simply experience the moment. Aisha’s paintings are exactly about that. Another key aspect of this exhibition is its inclusivity,» said curator of the exhibition Olga Vesselova.
«She experiences the world through her senses and
channels all of her creativity onto the canvas in the same way. We wanted to
reach as many visitors as possible in Tashkent, so we prepared instructions and
curatorial texts in both Uzbek and Russian. These texts are also available in
Braille,» said Sanzhar
Serikbayev, co-curator of the exhibition.
