Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev visited sports
facilities in Astana, beginning with the multifunctional complex named after
Bekzat Sattarkhanov. The venue hosts sports events of various levels, as well
as health and recreational programs for the public. It features courts for
futsal, volleyball, and basketball, along with dedicated martial arts halls for
training in boxing, judo, kazakh kuresi, and other disciplines. The Head of
State emphasized that the development of mass sports requires the construction
of more such complexes. During the visit, the President also spoke with young
boxers and football players.
«I am the team captain. We are preparing for the upcoming
championship of Kazakhstan. Football teaches us not only how to play, but also
discipline, hard work, and the value of true friendship. Our goal is to make it
to the national team and win the World Cup,» said one young athlete.
The Head of State also visited the Daulet Tennis Center. The
facility currently trains 600 children, including 85 who receive free
instruction through government funding. It operates 57 sports and wellness
groups and is considered one of the capital’s key social and sports
institutions. The center provides broad access to tennis for children,
including those with special educational needs.
«I’ve been playing tennis since I was five years old. I
really enjoy this sport. I’m a national tournament winner and currently hold
the third junior category in tennis. My goal is to promote my country on the
global stage,» said a young tennis player.
