Kazakh President participates in OTS Summit

The results of Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the Organization of Turkic States were summarized today by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the OTS Summit in Bishkek, the Kyrgyz Republic. This year, the organization is celebrating its 15th anniversary. As President Tokayev emphasized, over this period, the OTS has become an authoritative structure on the global stage.

«Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the OTS was held under the motto TURKTIME! We focused on strengthening the unity of the Turkic world and expanding comprehensive cooperation. Specific outcomes were achieved, a number of projects were implemented, and more than 80 events were organized. Astana hosted the fifth World Nomad Games, which vividly demonstrated the rich nomadic civilization of the Great Steppe to the world. A historic event was the approval of a common Turkic alphabet,» Tokayev noted.

The volume of mutual trade turnover between Turkic countries this year exceeded $45 billion, with more potential ahead. Contacts have been established in the trade, economic, energy and financial sectors within the Organization. According to President Tokayev, the work of the launched Turkic Investment Fund also contributes to deepening integration. The Council of Central Banks of the OTS member states, which is being established, will also support this effort. This decision has been endorsed by all parties. Strengthening transport and logistic ties, as noted by the Head of State, will also bring effective results. He also emphasized the importance of developing human capital. Another proposal from the Head of State is the organization of mutual broadcasting of cable TV channels to create a common information space for the Turkic world. Following the Summit, the parties signed eight documents. The Kyrgyz Republic will assume the OTS chairmanship in 2025.
