President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received the Almaty region’s governor Marat Sultangaziyev who reported on the socioeconomic development indicators and plans for the development of the Almaty agglomeration. Currently, the region is among the leaders in the efficient use of state agricultural subsidies: for every 1 tenge of subsidies, 17 tenge worth of agricultural products are produced. In addition, products from the Almaty region’s processing enterprises are in demand abroad. Over the first nine months of this year, their exports increased by 28.5%, reaching $618.5 million. Sultangaziyev also reported that over the past three years, the region’s gross regional product has nearly doubled, reaching six trillion tenge.
«This year, over the first 10 months, the short-term
economic indicator reached 109.7%. The region is implementing 13 investment
projects worth more than 470 billion tenge with the participation of
international companies. The number of commercial dairy farms continues to
grow. This year, about 950,000 square meters of housing were commissioned in
the region. A tourism cluster is developing around the Kapshagai reservoir and the
national nature parks. The number of tourists who visited the region reached
2.2 million, which is 36% more compared to the same period last year,» Sultangaziyev said.
