During his working visit to the United Arab
Emirates (UAE), President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev discussed cooperation with
leaders of major Arab companies in Abu Dhabi, including CEO of Masdar Mohamed
Al Ramahi. The President noted that the parties successfully signed all the
necessary agreements for the construction of a one gigawatt wind power plant in
the Zhambyl region. The parties also exchanged views on implementing new
significant projects in digitalization.
At a meeting with the leadership of Abu
Dhabi National Oil Company, namely Khaled Salmeen, Tokayev highlighted Kazakhstan’s
commitment to enhancing cooperation in the oil and gas sector, geological
exploration, and artificial intelligence (AI).
Another meeting with the CEO of Abu Dhabi
Ports Group focused on the prospects for bilateral cooperation and the
implementation of previously reached agreements in the transport and logistics
sector. According to the President, the company’s plans for constructing large
projects align with Kazakhstan’s strategic interests in developing marine and
port infrastructure on the Caspian Sea. Enhancing transport infrastructure and
transit corridors is crucial for ensuring sustainable economic growth and
stimulating international trade in Kazakhstan.
«Abu Dhabi Ports, one of the world’s
leading transport and logistics companies, is collaborating with Kazakhstan in
two key areas. The first involves KazMunayGas national oil and gas company,
focusing on managing the joint merchant fleet in the Caspian and Black Seas,
which currently includes six sea vessels. We plan to increase their number this
year. The second area is with Kazakhstan Temir Zholy national railway company,
where Abu Dhabi Ports is enhancing the transport and logistics potential along
the North-South and Middle Corridors,» said Samruk Kazyna CEO Nurlan Zhakupov.
Continuing the series of meetings, Tokayev
discussed AI development with experts, underscoring ongoing significant steps
toward establishing a solid foundation for promoting AI, including training and
supporting highly qualified specialists. An advanced technology centre, AlemAI,
has been established in Kazakhstan, and the Al-Sana innovative program has been
introduced in the education sector.
