200,000 workers in Kazakhstan’s oil and gas industry will
celebrate their professional holiday this Sunday. Ahead of the occasion,
veterans and distinguished employees of the fuel and energy sector were guests
of honor at the Akorda presidential palace. At a solemn ceremony, President
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated them and presented state awards. Tokayev
highlighted the special role of the oil and gas complex in the national
economy. Last year, the sector marked its 125th anniversary. Since independence,
oil production has increased fourfold and is expected to reach 100 million
tonnes per year soon. The President noted that particular attention is being
paid to deep processing. Three major refineries have been modernized, a new gas
processing plant is under construction at Kashagan, and a second line of the
Beineu-Bozoi-Shymkent gas pipeline is being built. Major oil and gas chemical
projects are also planned. Development is beginning at the Kalamkas-Sea and
Khazar offshore fields, with investments exceeding $6 billion. Notably,
offshore platforms will be constructed at domestic shipyards. Tokayev
emphasized that all these projects will strengthen Kazakhstan’s energy
potential and support steady economic growth.
