Kazakhstan, China expand media and AI cooperation

The development of cultural and humanitarian cooperation was discussed by Kazakh State Counselor Erlan Karin with China Media Group President Shen Haixiong during a working visit to China. The meeting was also attended by Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to China Shakhrat Nuryshev, Director of the Kazakh President’s TV and Radio Complex Raushan Kazhibayeva, and Head of the Jibek Joly/Silk Way TV channel Yerkezhan Kuntugan. The State Counselor spoke about the content and significance of the reforms being implemented under the leadership of President Tokayev. The parties also highly praised the organization of the international contest Silk Way Star, which took place last year in Kazakhstan and was popular among viewers in China, attracting more than one billion views. The participants discussed preparations for the second season of the project. Filming will take place in July in the Chinese city of Yiwu. Kazakhstan will be represented in the competition by Rukhiya Baidukenova. In addition, Erlan Karin announced that the first International Astana AI Film Festival (AAIFF 2026) will be held in October. Its central event will be a short film competition created using artificial intelligence technologies.
