Korkyt Ata Turkic World Film Festival wraps up in Aktau

The Korkyt Ata Turkic World Film Festival has wrapped up in Aktau, showcasing around 50 films. The Kazakh film “Gingerbread for Her Dad,” won in the documentary category, while Kyrgyzstan’s Black Red Yellow took the top prize for feature film. The Best Director award went to Kazakh filmmaker Aruan Anartai for his film “Joqtau.” The TÜRKSOY Award for Contribution to Turkic Culture was presented to acclaimed Kazakh actress Samal Yeslyamova. The festival brought together national film companies from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan. This year, Hungary also joined the lineup for the first time.

«The Korkyt Ata Festival is being held for the fifth time. In previous years, it was hosted by cities designated as the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World. This year, the honor went to Aktau, marking the first time the festival has been held in the Mangystau region,» said Nurtas Sali, Head of the Department of Culture, Language Development and Archiving of the Mangystau region.
