The Czech Air Force aircraft delivered seven Przewalski’s
horses to the Kostanai region in northern Kazakhstan. For the first time in the
last 200 years, the animals were transported from the Czech Republic to
Kazakhstan as part of a joint reintroduction project between the countries,
aimed at returning Przewalski’s horses to the wild. The animals are currently
undergoing an adaptation process. Under the international agreement, a total of
about 40 horses are expected to be brought to the country. Specialists hope to
restore the population of this endangered species in its native lands.
«We
believe that through the combined efforts of authorities, scientists, and
concerned people, Przewalski’s horses will become an integral part of the
region’s fauna and their offspring will continue to enchant us with their
beauty and majesty for many years to come. Ecotourism will soon be actively
developed in the region, and this species will become a highlight of the
natural beauty of our lands,» said Yerlan Nyssanbayev, Kazakh Minister of Ecology and
Natural Resources.
