A presentation of books by the winners of the «Uly Dala
2024» international competition was held in Astana. The authors are ethnic
Kazakhs living abroad. Around 100 applications were submitted, and the jury
selected nine outstanding pieces, including poetry collections and literary
works by authors from Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Russia. Launched in
2023, the project aims to promote the Kazakh language, culture, and traditions
among the Kandas people. Since then, approximately 20 books by various writers
have been published by domestic publishers as part of the initiative, with digital
versions also available. After reviewing last year's results, the organizers
announced the opening of applications for the «Uly Dala 2025» competition.
«The value of these books lies in their role in preserving
our national identity, uniqueness, and cultural code. They are particularly
beneficial for young people. We distribute these works free of charge across
Kazakhstan, providing them to libraries and schools. By supporting authors, we
promote the Kazakh language and share our spiritual values,» said Daniyar
Kadirov, President of the Otandastar Foundation.
«The authors’ works are evaluated based on criteria such as
content, specificity, artistry, and credibility. There can be no doubt about
the quality of the books published by these authors. As a representative of the
Union of Writers of Kazakhstan, I sincerely hope that this project will
continue, as it holds great importance for our spiritual heritage,» said Dauletkerei
Kapuly, Director of the Astana branch of the Kazakh Writers’ Union.
