The Kazakh national
team emerged as the strongest at the first Asian Championship in tenge ilu
(picking up coins on a horse). The inaugural continental competition in this traditional
equestrian sport was held in the Almaty region. It brought together athletes
from 10 countries, including Russia, Hungary, and Asian states, who showcased
their skills in three styles. According to the results of the two-day
championship, Rakhat Kambarov of the Kazakh national team earned the title of
best athlete in tenge ilu. Notably, the International Federation of Tenge Ilu
was created prior to the championship, comprising national associations from
Kazakhstan, China, Mongolia, and Hungary.
«Many countries where
equestrian sports are developed, including South Korea, New Zealand,
Bangladesh, and Bulgaria, are showing interest in tenge ilu. Kazakhstan has
great opportunities for further development of this sport. Every region and
district in the country has national sports schools that annually host various
competitions among young people and adults,» Rom Auyeskhan, President of
Mongolia’s National Sports Association, said.
«We believe that such
competitions will foster cultural and humanitarian cooperation among countries.
They will also give further impetus to the development of this sport, not only
in Kazakhstan but also in other countries,» said Amangeldy Abdykadyrov,
President of the International Tenge Ilu Federation.
