Kazakh musicians dedicate kui to Olympic medalists

The kui «Namys,» dedicated to Kazakh athletes who participated in the Paris Olympic Games, was composed by Zhanibek Kazbekuly and Beksultan Imashev from Karagandy in just a week. The authors have already registered the copyright for their first joint work. The kui was presented in Italy at an international folk festival, where the young musicians participated alongside students of a local music school studio. Notably, the musicians formed the duo called «Sardar» about a year ago and are now actively promoting the dombyra, teaching children how to play.

«We were inspired while watching our athletes at the Olympics. The victory of Yeldos Smetov motivated us to compose a kui dedicated to Kazakh athletes. That’s how the musical piece titled «Namys» came about. The composition got its name due to its rhythm and technique. It reflects our emotions and admiration,» said composer Zhanibek Kazbekuly.
