Kazakhstan intends to become a regional transit center. For this, the country will build additional railway infrastructure and terminal facilities. In particular, in order to develop transit export traffic between Russia and China, second tracks will be laid on the Dostyk-Moiynty railway section. This will decrease the load on the Almaty hub by an average of 30 percent. Particular attention will be paid to the development of maritime transport. The Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development noted that the potential of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route has not yet been unlocked.
“We have implemented projects for the construction of a ferry complex in the port of Aktau. Measures were also taken to expand the capacity of the existing port of Aktau. Today, the capacity of our infrastructure reaches almost 21 million tonnes. And we have the ability to transport any kind of cargo,” said Kassym Tlepov, spokesperson for Kazakh Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development.
