New specialties in paleontology,
mineralogy and crystallography may appear in Kazakhstan. Chairman of the
Geology Committee of the country’s Ministry of Industry and Construction Yerlan
Akbarov made proposals for the development of the industry at the first forum
of domestic geologists in the city of Astana. According to him, the study of
blind deposits requires fundamentally new approaches and technologies. At the
meeting, experts emphasized the importance of conducting fundamental scientific
research and work. To this end, it is proposed to establish a separate body in
the country, namely an advisory council, which will specialize in issues
related to the geological study of subsoil at the state level. Also, at the
meeting of Kazakh geologists, another priority was identified, which is the
development of a full-fledged national geological service, where the experience
of leading foreign countries will definitely be useful. Domestic geologists
will now adopt it from their British colleagues within the memorandum signed at
the forum.
“Today, we concluded a memorandum
with the British Geological Survey, which has been cooperating with us for the
past few years. The document, signed within the international partnership, will
give an impetus to the development of the geological industry in the direction
of exploring rare earth metals as well as exchanging technologies, knowledge
and expertise of our specialists,” said Yerlan Akbarov, spokesperson for the
Kazakh Ministry of Industry and Construction.
