Kazakh Mazhilis approves amendments to law on postal services

In Kazakhstan, postal service regulations will be amended at the legislative level. These changes are necessary due to the reduction of paper correspondence and the emergence of new types of services of the national postal network operator. The Mazhilis, the Lower House of the Kazakh Parliament, approved amendments to the relevant law in the first reading. One of the innovations simplifies parcel collection mechanisms, allowing third parties to collect parcels upon presenting the appropriate PIN or QR codes. This also streamlines the delivery of goods from marketplaces to post offices and homes. The document further provides for the installation and use of parcel lockers, which will replace traditional mailboxes, while also eliminating outdated and redundant services. Notably, Kazpost services are primarily used in rural areas, where more than 1,800 offices are located.

«Last year, our parcel volume grew by 38 percent, while in the first 10 months of this year, it increased by 28 percent. Notably, 49 percent of parcels are sent to villages. We are actively working with global marketplaces to ensure our citizens can shop how and where they want, with fast delivery. We are also focused on improving service quality. Additionally, this year, we began offering transit transportation services to nine CIS countries,»  noted Kazpost CEO Assel Zhanassova.
