A total of 207 investment
projects were launched in the Kazakhstan’s agro-industrial complex in 2023,
with the total cost estimated at 164.5 billion tenge. These are dairy farms,
vegetable and grain storage facilities, greenhouses, and other projects. Over
the course of 11 months, the country’s agricultural sector attracted 855
billion tenge, which is 11 percent more than last year. Around 500 billion
tenge was allocated from all resources for subsidizing the agro-industrial
complex.
“In 11 months, the volume of
gross agricultural production amounted to 8.2 trillion tenge. A total of 16.6
million tonnes of grains, 2.1 million tonnes of oilseeds, and five million tonnes
of fodder crops were harvested. The harvested crop, including remaining stock
from the previous year, is sufficient to fully meet the domestic market demand.
The livestock industry in Kazakhstan is showing stable growth. The volume of
production increased by 3.3 percent to 3.8 trillion tenge. The number of
livestock, including cattle and poultry, grew from three to 9.5 percent. The
volume of food production increased by 1.9 percent, totaling 2.9 trillion
tenge,” said Agriculture Minister Aidarbek Saparov.
The agro-industrial complex is
one of the key sectors of Kazakhstan’s economy and serves as the foundation for
ensuring food security. This year, over 1.2 trillion tenge was allocated for
the development and support of this sector. The Head of State outlined the
country’s strategic goal to become one of the leading agricultural centers on
the Eurasian continent. This is impossible without a phased transition from
primary production to the production of higher value-added goods. The main task
now is to increase the share of processed products in the agro-industrial
complex to 70 percent within three years.
