Kazakh, Italian scientists discuss joint research projects

Kazakh and Italian scientists discussed cooperation and the outcomes of joint scientific projects at the «Science and Creativity» conference held in Astana. The event was organized by Nazarbayev University (NU) in partnership with the Embassy of Italy in Kazakhstan and the Italian Cultural Institute. Discussions focused on digitalization, the potential of artificial intelligence, and the effective integration of the humanities with the natural and technical sciences. Innovative developments in the creative industries can serve as examples of such integration. According to experts, Kazakhstan is currently focused on implementing effective know-how developed by domestic researchers, while cooperation with Italian scientists further broadens these opportunities.

«One of our most innovative projects is a research initiative in cardiology aimed at enhancing diagnostic methods using minimally invasive technologies. The second project focuses on rehabilitation. Thanks to collaboration with major Italian innovation companies such as Technobody and Technogym, we now have the opportunity to provide remote rehabilitation services to residents of Kazakhstan’s remote regions using telerehabilitation devices,» said Yeltay Rakhmanov, Instructor at the NU School of Medicine.

«I have to say that the importance that Italy attaches to the broader collaboration with Kazakhstan is demonstrated in the cultural side also by the recent creation of the cultural institute. It is based in Almaty, but of course is working in all the country, bringing several important projects. And one of the most significant will be the translation of Italian masterpieces of our literature in Kazakh language,» said Antonello De Riu, Ambassador of Italy to Kazakhstan.
