The Presidents of Kazakhstan and Guinea-Bissau visited the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC). Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Umaro Sissoco Embaló were briefed on the structure of the AIFC and its key areas of activity. According to the AIFC Governor, priority areas for cooperation between the two countries could include investments, green and Islamic finance, and the training of specialists for the financial sector. Additionally, the Heads of State were informed about the AIFC Court, the first judicial system in Central Asia based on common law principles. They were also briefed on the activities of the International Arbitration Centre (IAC), the Green Finance Centre (GFC), the Astana Financial Services Authority (AFSA), and the specifics of the centre’s regulatory regime. To date, $14 billion in investments have been attracted to the country through the AIFC, with $6.7 billion coming via the Astana International Exchange (AIX). Currently, 3,400 companies from 85 countries are registered at the center, including six from Africa.
