The development of Kazakhstan’s transit potential was
discussed at a government meeting. Particular attention was given to the
implementation of the «Green Corridor», which will speed up border crossings and simplify customs procedures. The digitalization of
processes plays a key role in this effort. The Ministry of Finance has already launched a customs transit and preliminary
information module within the KEDEN system, which automatically identifies
the types of state control required for cargo and ensures the operation of
services under the one-stop-shop principle. An electronic queue system has also
been introduced. At the borders with China and Uzbekistan, foreign permit forms
are now issued automatically. The Ministry of Finance has developed a draft
multilateral agreement «Seamless Transit», which is expected to be implemented jointly with Uzbekistan by spring
2026. Notably, transit volumes
through Kazakhstan have increased by 20% over the past five years. By the end
of this year alone, transportation volumes are expected to rise further,
reaching 33 million tonnes.
