Kassym-Jomart Tokayev receives FIS President

Cooperation and prospects for further interaction between Kazakhstan and the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) in the fields of athlete training as well as coach and referee education were discussed today by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and FIS President Johan Eliasch at the Akorda residence. The Head of State emphasized that more than 85,000 people in Kazakhstan regularly practice skiing. The country has modern infrastructure, including ski resorts, cross-country trails, and international-level ice arenas. Particular attention is being paid to preparations for the upcoming Winter Olympic Games in Italy. Johan Eliasch noted the high level of performance demonstrated by Kazakh athletes at prestigious competitions. At the conclusion of the meeting, President Tokayev awarded Johan Eliasch the Dostyk Order of the second degree for his contribution to the development of skiing and snowboarding in Kazakhstan.
